Dave Stoehr joined Wintrust in January 2002 and was named executive vice president and chief financial officer later that year. He manages all financial, accounting, and treasury affairs of the company, including internal and external financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, capital and liquidity management, and the credit reserving process

Dave has over 40 years of experience in the banking industry. Prior to joining Wintrust, he served in a variety of leadership roles in finance and accounting at banking institutions throughout the Midwest. Dave earned his BBA in Accounting from the University of Wisconsin, Oshkosh, and his MBA from the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee. 

In addition to living by the motto, “It’s always the right time to do the right thing,” Dave’s core principles that drive all functions of finance at Wintrust “are an A.R.T., not a science”:

• Auditability – reliable controls, services, documentation, and support to enable understanding of results.
• Repeatability – consistent processes to ensure a balanced service level to all customers.
• Transparency – clear goals and objectives to facilitate a collaborative environment where trusted relationships and teamwork are encouraged.  

Dave spends most of his free time in Door County, Wisconsin, enjoying the outdoor activities that the area provides by boating all summer, hiking in the fall, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing in the winter, and searching for unique wildflowers in the spring, as well as enjoying festivals year-round.
