Tony Buttrick joined Wintrust in February 2018 as chief information officer (CIO). In this role, he is responsible for developing and implementing information technology initiatives that support Wintrust’s strategic vision, while improving cost effectiveness, service quality, and business development. Prior to Wintrust, Tony spent three years at Flagstar Bank in Troy, Michigan in the role of executive vice president and CIO. Additionally, he spent 10 years with Bank of America in Charlotte, North Carolina and held several technology and risk management executive positions, each with global responsibility. Before joining Bank of America, Tony spent three years with Fidelity Investments in a CIO role, also in Charlotte, and 23 years total with the US Navy. He served 16 years on active duty in various special operations and intelligence assignments and seven years as a Department of Defense employee with the Office of Naval Intelligence in Washington, DC. While working in the U.S. intelligence community, he served in multiple roles, including leading the U.S. government’s most state-of-the-art imaging facility; imaging technical advisor to the Central Intelligence Agency; and chief technical officer for the Digital Production Program Office. Tony received the National Intelligence Certificate of Distinction, awarded by the director of the CIA, for his work.
