If a down payment seems like a hurdle in that process, we can help. Through local nonprofit partnerships, we’ve created the Homebuyer Grant Program to help first-time homebuyers overcome the challenge of covering a down payment. This program offers $2,000 to qualifying borrowers purchasing a home as their primary residence and can be paired with federal, state, and local grants or loans.

This program offers $2,000 to qualifying borrowers purchasing a home as their primary residence and can be paired with federal, state, and local grants or loans.

To qualify, homebuyers must:

  • Be applying for a first mortgage
  • Have an annual household income at or below 80% of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s median income, of the county in which the property is located, adjusted for household size
  • Contribute at least $1,000 from personal funds toward the purchase of a home
  • Complete an approved homebuyer counseling program with one of our 11 partner organizations
  • Be applying for a minimum five-year loan term and, on adjustable rate mortgages, an initial minimum interest rate lock period of five years
